To determine the width of the bearing and the groove width, one must calculate the bearing load. CDI Products recommends following the bearing calculations as outlined in SAE ARP7024 “Polymeric Bearings for Linear Actuators.”
HOW TO CALCULATE THE BEARING LOAD:
- Choose your configuration (Rod or Piston)
- Enter desired rod or bore diameter
- Enter desired Armorlene® material
- Enter maximum radial load
Take the groove width recommendation the calculator generates and return to the Bearings Product Page to input. The output of calculator is the minimum width of the bearing groove width to carry the radial load.
